Fall 2026 Anime: Every Major Premiere and Release Date
The October season is front-loaded, sequel-heavy, and split across three different streaming services. Here is every announced premiere date, who is carrying what, and the fastest way to keep a forty-show season from getting away from you.
Quick answer: The Fall 2026 anime season opens the week of October 1, led by The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 (October 2), Black Clover Season 2 and Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities Arc (October 3), and Ranma 1/2 Season 3, Blue Box Season 2 and Aoashi Season 2 (all October 4). Later arrivals include Dragon Ball Super: Beerus (October 11), Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (October 20), Made in Abyss (October 23) and ufotable's Witch on the Holy Night (November 20).
Updated September 15, 2026: added season artwork and air dates pulled from AniList, expanded the calendar with titles announced since publication, and corrected two studio credits. Blue Box Season 2 is animated by Electric Circus, not Telecom Animation Film, and Aoashi Season 2 by TMS Entertainment, not Production I.G. Both studios changed between seasons and the original text carried the first-season credits.
Autumn is traditionally the strongest anime season of the year, the one studios save their prestige adaptations for, and Fall 2026 is holding to type. It is unusually top-heavy with sequels, several of them to shows that were the biggest thing on television when they last aired.
It is also, more than most seasons, a logistics problem. The lineup is split three ways across Crunchyroll, Netflix and Disney+, the opening wave compresses into about ninety-six hours, and several of the largest releases of the quarter arrive weeks after everyone has already settled into a weekly routine. Below is the full calendar, the platform split, and what to do about it.

When does the Fall 2026 anime season start?
The season effectively opens on Thursday, October 1, and the first four days carry most of the weight. A few titles start early, in the final week of September: the new STEEL BALL RUN cour on September 25, and Overgeared and As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill Season 3 on September 27.
From October 1 to October 4 the majority of the season premieres. A second wave runs October 5 to October 13. Then the season deliberately spreads out: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 lands complete on October 20, Made in Abyss on October 23, Witch on the Holy Night on November 20 and Fool Night on November 26.
If you want one piece of practical advice from this whole article: the useful window for getting organized is the last weekend of September, not the first weekend of October. By October 4 you are already choosing between six new episodes instead of planning for them.
Why you will see two different dates for the same show
Worth clearing up before the calendar, because it causes a lot of confusion. Most anime airs in Japanese late-night slots after midnight, and sources count those broadcasts differently. A show scheduled at 25:55 on a Saturday is really 1:55am on Sunday, so one listing files it under Saturday and another under Sunday.
That is why Ranma 1/2 Season 3 appears as both October 3 and October 4, and Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 as both September 30 and October 1. Neither listing is wrong. This guide follows AniList's dates throughout so the calendar below is at least internally consistent, and the only real fix is a tracker that converts the actual broadcast time into your own timezone.
The biggest returning series
Sequels are the spine of this season, and a few of them have been waited on for years.
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 (October 2, OLM, Crunchyroll) is the consensus headliner, and not only in the West. Japanese anticipation polling for the season put it in first place, ahead of Dragon Ball. It is a split cour, so the first half runs this fall and the second half is scheduled for April 2027, with a separate Apothecary Diaries feature dated December 11 in Japan. Maomao's return is the single most reliable thing on the fall calendar.
Ranma 1/2 Season 3 (October 4, MAPPA) continues the remake of the Rumiko Takahashi classic, airing in a Nippon TV late-night slot and reaching Netflix internationally immediately after the Japanese broadcast. The third season is expected to adapt the Breaking Point storyline, which means Ryoga Hibiki has a much better year than usual.
Blue Box Season 2 (October 4, Electric Circus, Netflix) returns to the badminton and basketball romance that quietly became one of 2024's most liked shows, and Aoashi Season 2 (October 4, TMS Entertainment, Crunchyroll) picks the youth football drama back up after a four-year absence. Both changed studios between seasons, which is worth knowing if you are watching for a particular look.
Rounding out the returners: Black Clover Season 2 (October 3, Studio Pierrot), Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities Arc (October 3, LIDENFILMS, Disney+), Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (October 23, Kinema Citrus), Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend (October 16, CloverWorks), The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World II (October 9), Sasaki and Peeps Season 2 (October 7) and the second part of Chitose Is in the Ramune Bottle on October 13.
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus and the October 11 wave
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus begins broadcasting in Japan on Sunday, October 11 from Toei Animation, per the official Dragon Ball site, with a world premiere screening at New York Comic Con during its October 8 to 11 run. It is the first new Dragon Ball Super television arc in years, and the announcement has been explicit that further arcs are planned behind it.
One honest caveat, because it matters for planning: as of mid-September the international streaming arrangements had not been fully spelled out. The Japanese broadcast date is confirmed and the simulcast details are not. If Dragon Ball is the reason you are reading this, watch the official site rather than a listing aggregator in the first week of October.
The most anticipated new premieres
If you would rather start something with no back catalogue attached, the fall slate is generous.
Firefly Wedding (October 9, david production, Crunchyroll) is the most interesting bet on paper, a supernatural romance set in the last years of the Edo period, airing in the noitaminA block that has historically been reserved for shows aimed at an adult audience. Magic Knight Rayearth (October 7, E&H Production) is a new adaptation of the CLAMP magical girl series that defined a chunk of the 1990s, which makes it simultaneously a new premiere and the most nostalgic thing on the schedule.
Witch on the Holy Night (November 20) is ufotable adapting the Type-Moon visual novel, and on studio pedigree alone it is the most likely thing this season to be beautiful. Fool Night (November 26, Shaft) and GROTESQQQUE (November 6, CloverWorks) round out a genuinely strong late-season block, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (October 20, TRIGGER) belongs here as much as in the sequel section, since it follows an entirely new cast in Night City and works as a first watch.
Also worth a look from the early-October cluster: PSYREN (October 5, Satelight), To You in the Beyond (October 9, TMS Entertainment), Tougen Anki: Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, and Mission: Yozakura Family Season 2 Part 2.

The platform split is the real difficulty this season
In an ordinary season you can mostly assume Crunchyroll and be right. This one does not work that way, and it is worth knowing before October 1 rather than after.
Crunchyroll has The Apothecary Diaries Season 3, Aoashi Season 2, Black Clover Season 2, Firefly Wedding and The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World II. Netflix has Ranma 1/2 Season 3, Blue Box Season 2, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and the My Happy Marriage specials. Disney+ has Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities Arc.
Two of those services release weekly and one of them, for its biggest fall title, does not release weekly at all. Licensing also varies by country, and some fall titles had no announced international home as of mid-September. Confirm on the service's own listing for your region rather than trusting a global chart, especially outside the United States.
How to actually run a forty-show season
Here is the part that no premiere guide usually covers, and it is the part that decides how much of the season you actually watch.
A seasonal lineup is exciting as a list and punishing as a schedule. Seven shows premiere across a single weekend, each one lands on its own weekday, they are scattered across three subscriptions, several are sequels you will want a refresher for, and four of the biggest releases arrive between two and ten weeks after you built the habit. Miss the opening weekend and you are four episodes behind on three different services before you have chosen anything.
A plain calendar with one recurring entry per show will technically do it. The reason most people stop is never the shows. It is the twenty seconds of friction in remembering which app a thing was on, and the fact that a weekly calendar reminder does not know an episode slipped a week.
What we built for exactly this
This is our own app, so read it with that in mind. Rexy is an anime tracker we built because most anime apps are logbooks: they are very good at recording what you already watched and close to useless for the thing that actually goes wrong, which is the week ahead.
Watch Week is the main screen. Every show you follow that airs this week, grouped by day, with a focal next-episode card counting down to the exact minute. The countdowns come from real episode data converted into your timezone, not a weekly reminder you set yourself, which is precisely the late-night-slot ambiguity described further up this page solved on your behalf. Alerts fire at whatever lead time you choose.
Where to Watch is the answer to this season specifically. Each series links straight out to the streaming services that carry it, so a lineup split across Crunchyroll, Netflix and Disney+ stops being three apps and becomes one tap. To be exact about what that means: Rexy links you out, it does not host or play video, and it is not affiliated with any streaming service.
The Season Browser is the whole fall lineup as a poster grid with an A to Z index and filters for where to watch, studio, genre, format and status, which is a faster way to build a watchlist than reading a table like the one above. Follow the Franchise means following one series picks up its seasons, movies, OVAs, specials and shorts with per-type control. And the Catch Up Planner exists for the sequel problem: line up the seasons or episodes you need before October, on a runtime-scaled timeline, check them off, and carry over what is left.
Two things worth stating plainly. Rexy's air dates come from AniList, the same open database the artwork on this page comes from, with episode titles from Wikipedia. And there is no account and no sign-up: recommendations run on your device using Apple's on-device intelligence, so nothing about your taste leaves your phone, while your watchlist syncs across your own devices through iCloud.
Pricing, honestly: Rexy is free to follow up to seven shows, and the free tier includes Watch Week, the countdowns, air-date alerts, the season browser, the Catch Up planner and the Rexy agent. Seven is a real watchlist for most people and this guide covers a season where you might want more, which is the case for Rexy+ at $9.99 a year: unlimited follows, Live Activity countdowns on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, all ten themes and icons, deeper on-device recommendations and friend sharing. There is a $29.99 lifetime option if subscriptions annoy you, which is a position we have sympathy for.
The one real limitation to know up front: Rexy is Apple-only and requires iOS 26. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. There is no Android build. If you are on Android, our guide to finding out when your anime returns covers the free cross-platform options, including AniList itself, AnimeSchedule.net and LiveChart.me, and they are good.

The bottom line
Fall 2026 is a sequel season with unusually strong newcomers underneath it. The Apothecary Diaries, Black Clover, Ranma 1/2, Blue Box and Aoashi anchor the returning slate and almost all of them land between October 1 and October 4. Firefly Wedding, Magic Knight Rayearth and Witch on the Holy Night lead the new shows. Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, Made in Abyss and the November block arrive later and are easy to lose track of precisely because of that gap.
Sort your list before October 1, know which service each show lives on, and you will spend the autumn watching rather than catching up. For comparison, our Summer 2026 premiere guide covers the shows finishing their runs as this season begins.
Frequently Asked Questions
What anime is coming out in Fall 2026?
The Fall 2026 season is led by The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 on October 2, Black Clover Season 2 and Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities Arc on October 3, and Ranma 1/2 Season 3, Blue Box Season 2 and Aoashi Season 2 all on October 4. Later in the season come Dragon Ball Super: Beerus on October 11, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on October 20, Made in Abyss on October 23, and ufotable's Witch on the Holy Night on November 20. Most of the season premieres between October 1 and October 13.
When does the Fall 2026 anime season start?
The bulk of the Fall 2026 season premieres between Thursday, October 1 and Sunday, October 4, with a few early starts in the last week of September including the new STEEL BALL RUN cour on September 25. A second wave runs October 5 to October 13, and several major titles hold back to later in the season: Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on October 20, Made in Abyss on October 23, Witch on the Holy Night on November 20 and Fool Night on November 26. If you only set aside one evening to organize a watchlist, make it the last weekend of September.
What is the best app to track Fall 2026 anime?
Rexy is an anime tracker built specifically for the problem this season creates, and it is ours, so weigh that accordingly. Its Watch Week screen shows every show you follow that airs this week grouped by day, with a countdown to the exact minute the next episode airs in your timezone, and each series links out to the streaming services that carry it, which matters in a season split across Crunchyroll, Netflix and Disney+. Air dates come from AniList. It is free to follow up to 7 shows with countdowns, alerts, the season browser and the Catch Up planner included, Rexy+ is $9.99 a year for unlimited follows and Live Activity countdowns, and there is a $29.99 lifetime option. It requires iOS 26 and runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro. There is no account and recommendations run on your device. On Android, AniList, AnimeSchedule.net and LiveChart.me are the free options worth using.
What are the biggest Fall 2026 anime sequels?
The headline returning series are The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 (October 2, OLM), Black Clover Season 2 (October 3, Studio Pierrot), Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities Arc (October 3, LIDENFILMS), Ranma 1/2 Season 3 (October 4, MAPPA), Blue Box Season 2 (October 4, Electric Circus), Aoashi Season 2 (October 4, TMS Entertainment), Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 (October 20, TRIGGER) and Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi (October 23, Kinema Citrus). Japanese anticipation polling for the season put The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 in first place, ahead of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
Where can I watch Fall 2026 anime?
This season is split across at least three services, which is the practical complication. Crunchyroll carries The Apothecary Diaries Season 3, Aoashi Season 2, Black Clover Season 2, Firefly Wedding and The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World II. Netflix carries Ranma 1/2 Season 3, Blue Box Season 2, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 and the My Happy Marriage specials. Disney+ carries Tokyo Revengers: Three Deities Arc. Licensing is announced show by show and varies by region, so confirm on the service's own listing before assuming a title is where you expect.
When does The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 come out?
The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 premieres on October 2, 2026 from studio OLM, streaming on Crunchyroll. It is a split cour, meaning the season runs in two halves: the first half airs through the fall and the second half is scheduled for April 2027. A separate Apothecary Diaries feature is dated December 11 in Japan. The season also topped Japan's own Fall 2026 anticipation ranking.
When does Dragon Ball Super: Beerus premiere?
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus begins broadcasting in Japan on Sunday, October 11, 2026 from Toei Animation, per the official Dragon Ball site. A world premiere screening is scheduled for New York Comic Con, which runs October 8 to 11. International streaming details had not been fully announced as of mid-September, so check the official site or your usual service closer to the date.
Is Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 releasing all at once?
Yes. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 arrives on Netflix on October 20, 2026 as a complete ten-episode season rather than a weekly broadcast, which is how the first season was released in 2022. Studio TRIGGER returns, and it follows a new cast of characters in Night City rather than continuing the original crew, so it is a viable starting point even if you never watched season one.
What new anime should I watch in Fall 2026?
For a clean starting point with no back catalogue, the strongest new premieres are Firefly Wedding on October 9 from david production, a supernatural period romance in the noitaminA block; Magic Knight Rayearth on October 7, a new adaptation of the 1990s CLAMP magical girl classic; and Witch on the Holy Night on November 20, ufotable's adaptation of the Type-Moon visual novel. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on October 20 also works as a first watch because it uses a new cast.
Why do premiere dates differ by a day between sites?
Because most anime airs in Japanese late-night slots after midnight, and different sources count that broadcast differently. A show scheduled at 25:55 on Saturday is really 1:55am on Sunday, so one listing calls it Saturday and another calls it Sunday. That is why you will see Ranma 1/2 Season 3 listed as both October 3 and October 4, and Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2 as both September 30 and October 1. Neither is wrong. This guide follows AniList's dates for consistency, and a tracker that converts the real air time into your own timezone removes the ambiguity entirely.
How can I keep track of every anime airing this season?
Pick your shows before October 1 rather than during it, and track episodes as they air instead of trying to remember where you stopped. Fall 2026 is harder than most seasons because the titles are split across Crunchyroll, Netflix and Disney+ and because several major releases land weeks after the opening wave. A calendar entry per show works. A dedicated tracker works better: Rexy groups everything you follow into a Watch Week view by day, counts down to the exact minute each next episode airs in your timezone, and links each series out to the service that carries it, so you are not checking three apps to find tonight's episode.
Premiere dates, streaming rights and regional availability change, sometimes days before a season opens. Air dates and key visuals in this guide come from AniList and reflect announcements as of September 15, 2026, cross-checked against official studio and platform sources where available. Series artwork belongs to the respective studios and licensors and is used here to identify the works discussed. Confirm on the official site or your streaming service before planning around any single date.
